The Diploma of Community Services is delivered over 72 weeks face to face which includes 20 units of study and 200 hours of practical placement. Work placement will be pre-arranged by Educare College with approved care facility partners in the industry.

Day to Day key responsibilities may include:

• Case-load management
• Coordinate access to support services, education, and training providers
• Identify and address barriers preventing job seekers from being job-ready
• Monitor case plan actions, clients safety and wellbeing and placement supports through regular ongoing visits
• Supervision of new case managers
• Provide counselling to clients and schedule follow-up meetings

  • Be 18+ year older and have completed year 12 or overseas equivalent;
  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent (as determined by Educare College Australia)
  • Literacy and numeracy Test
  • A verified copy of previous qualifications & transcripts
  • Be Covid 19 Vaccinated (required to complete vocational work placement)

Work Placement

Work Placement is a mandatory requirement of this qualification, and will be arranged by Educare College to be completed during your course duration. Its part of competency-based assessment and provides the student with practical job skills and work experience.

Students will undertake 200 placement hours (unpaid) in an facility organised by Educare College. This placement will take place after the successful completion of class room activities and prescribed assessments which will be outlined in your induction and orientation timetables.

Prior to commencement of Vocational Placement students are required to organise

– Covid19 Vaccine (both doses)
– Flu Vaccine
– Police Check
– Blue Card

An individualised work placement log book along with your training plan will be provided to you by your assessor which you must use to record and track your course progress and work placement hours.

Students are required to do their work placement shifts determined during the times provided by the placement provider. Please note shifts can vary and may include mornings (commencing at 6am), evenings (finishing at 11pm) and possibly some night shifts between Monday and Sunday. Students are expected ensure their time management skills are utilised well in order to not only balance family and work commitments but also their vocational shifts.

*COVID-19 vaccinations: For the mandatory vocational work placement, COVID-19 vaccinations is required as outlined by the Australian Federal Government and the Queensland State Government. If you are unable or unwilling to get these vaccinations please contact your enrolments officer to discuss you options.

Resources Needed

You will have access to our online learning system. You must have your own (laptop) computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software are required by all students to successfully undertake their study with Educare.
